Who are the innkeepers?
Melissa Leonard and Leonard Magliocca are the innkeepers at the Bernerhof.  Their history in hospitality, love of people and commitment to quality innkeeping will ensure your comfortable stay at the Bernerhof.

What time can I check in?
Your  room will be ready by 4:00 pm.  If you would like an early check-in, please ask when you make your reservation and we will try to accommodate you. We strive to greet you when you arrive so that we can welcome you, tour the inn, and show you to your suite. If you know you will arrive after 7:00 pm, a “Late Arrival” letter will be posted at the front desk with directions to your room.

What time is check out?
We ask that you check out by 11 am.  We are occasionally able to accommodate a later check out.  If you would like to request a later check-out time, please speak with The Innkeepers (Melissa Leonard or Leonard Magliocca)  as soon as possible.  If you do not make arrangements to check out after 11 am, you will incur an additional $35 charge.

What should I do if I need to cancel my reservation?
The Bernerhof Inn is a small, boutique country inn and last minute cancellations greatly impact us. Reservations cancelled greater than fourteen days prior to arrival will be subject to a $25 administrative fee. If you cancel within fourteen days of your arrival, you will be responsible for the full amount due.

What time is breakfast?
Breakfast is served in the dining room from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.  Coffee is generally available by 7:30 am.

What is served for breakfast?
The breakfast menu changes daily. Each day guests will be treated to fresh fruit and juices, fresh baked items and a sweet or savory entrée.  Additionally, we always offer a variety of cereals, instant oatmeal and steaming coffee plus a variety of teas.  We work hard to include as many fresh local ingredients in our breakfasts as the season’s bounty will allow.

What if I have dietary limitations?
Please notify the innkeepers upon making reservations if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies.  We are happy to accommodate low-fat, gluten-free or vegan diets with alternative breakfast items.

Do you allow children?
Well-mannered children of all ages are always welcome at the Bernerhof.  While most guest rooms are designed to accommodate two, a number of the suites at the Bernerhof are ideal for families traveling together.  For the comfort of other guests, we ask that parents supervise children at all times.

What can I do if I am too hot or cold?
This classic Victorian inn circa 1880 comes complete with beautiful antiques and a traditional heating system for the time period. Each room has been equipped with state-of-the art air conditioning systems for the warmer summer months.  Additionally, we offer eco-friendly electric fireplaces and additional back-up heaters in the winter months to create both ambiance and warmth.  Please contact the innkeeper if you need assistance with the temperature in your room.

When is cleaning done?
Housekeeping is generally provided daily between 8 am and noon.  Beds are made and towels are refreshed during this time.  Please let the innkeeper know if you request additional items in your room.

Where can we smoke?
The Bernerhof Inn is entirely non-smoking.  Guests may not smoke in rooms. There will be a designated smoking area outside the building.  If smoking occurs in a guest room, the entire room has to be cleaned top to bottom.  This will result in a $150 cleaning fee charged back to the guest.

Can I burn candles?
Regrettably, our fire insurance policy prohibits candle burning.  Yet recognizing how important ambiance is, we provide eco-friendly flameless flicker candles in each room. Additionally lights with rheostats above all spa tubs have been installed for softer lighting. To enforce this policy, we must charge guests a $50 fee if candle burning is discovered.
