The White Mountains – A Perfect Getaway for Aspiring Artists

Artists search for inspiration. Some find it in music, a child’s laughter, a good book, or by looking at the work of other artists. If you’re an artist and you’ve been struggling to find some inspiration lately, we have a suggestion. Why not visit the White Mountains in New Hampshire?

The White Mountains are the perfect place to find inspiration and exercise your artistic expression. We try really hard not to be biased, but it’s difficult because we’re located in such a wonderful area. There truly is something for everyone. It really doesn’t matter what type of artist you are or what you’re looking for. Here are just a few things you can find in New Hampshire’s White Mountains that any artist will appreciate.

Get Out In Nature

First and foremost, the White Mountains of New Hampshire are absolutely gorgeous. It doesn’t matter what time of year you come to visit. The fall colors are stunning, the winter snow is enchanting, and the flowers of spring and summer are a kaleidoscope of vivid color.

Hike the trails through the countryside and you’ll find yourself by glassy lakes, invigorating waterfalls, and beautiful valleys. If you really want your breath taken away, check out Arethusa Falls; at 200 feet it’s the highest waterfall in New Hampshire.

There’s no need to be intimidated by the idea of hiking. The White Mountains are full of trails for hikers of every skill level, from beginners to advanced hikers. And just because you’re a beginner doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on any of the beauty because, simply put, beauty surrounds you here in the White Mountains.

Being in nature will bring you a wave of inspiration, whether you’re a landscape artist or novelist. Grab your easel and brushes, or your writing journal, and head out onto one of our trails. It won’t take long before you find that special spot that calls out to your inner artist.

Take the Scenic Route

If you aren’t much of a hiker, there’s no need to worry. You, too, can still enjoy the beauty of the White Mountains. How?

  • Take a scenic drive – Winding roads, splendid overlooks, and beauty surround you as you travel on one of our many scenic routes.
  • Try the tramway – High in the mountains, over 4000’ high, is the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway. On a clear day you can see all the way to Canada. This is the perfect vantage point for viewing all of the colors of fall or spring.

Enjoy Other Artists

What if you’re a different type of artist? What if you’re an actor? New Hampshire offers some exciting theatrical and musical events, too. Come experience local theater and mingle with other artists. Colonial Theater offers plays some of the best films that the whole family can enjoy. Are you more into Broadway musicals and children’s theater? Then you should check out Jane’s Playhouse.
